Police identify 13 thugs in Kano

The police in Kano State said they have identified 13 arrowheads behind the increasing thuggery in some parts of Kano metropolis.

The command said more security personnel had been deployed to ensure that there was no breakdown of law and order and as measure to dominate all attempts to the reemergence of thuggery by restive street boys, infamously known as Yan Daba, in some parts of Dala, Gwale and Kano Municipal LGAs.

The command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the recent surge in thuggery raised concerns among residents and authorities alike.

He said, “It is in response to this growing trend that the Kano State Police Command is currently implementing a series of proactive measures, including the deployment of more personnel, to curtail these unlawful activities and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“In furtherance, the command has painstakingly conducted in-depth intelligence-led investigation and identified some arrowheads believed to be behind the increasing spate of the reemergence of thuggery activities bringing the metropolitan and other parts of the state to the harrowing days of phone snatching and infliction of life-threatening injuries to members of the public, including women and children.”

He gave the names of those fingered as Halipa Here, Sheye Injiniya, Yusuf Ilu, Walidi Auwalu Kapinta, Tijjani Rattagu, Agiri Balarabe, Dan Kasuwa, Dan Makare, Nasuru Madadi, Hali Pan Pan, Jamilu Piye, Saiyid Zawai and Inyasi.

Kiyawa, therefore, urged the public to use all available means to inform the suspects to report to the Bompai Police Headquarters before being arrested by the police.
