Police grossly underfunded, neglected – AIG Zone 4

The new Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 4, Benue, Mustapha Dan Daura, has said that the Nigeria Police Force has been neglected.

Speaking when he paid a familiarisation visit to Governor Samuel Ortom at the Government House in Makurdi, Benue State, on Thursday, he said the force is grossly underfunded.

He also pointed out that the police operate largely from the support of state governors while commending Ortom for the assistance rendered by his administration to the police and other sister security agencies in the state.

The, AIG, however pledged the Nigeria Police readiness to always support the governor in his efforts to rid the state of criminality and other forms of insecurity.

Responding, Ortom acknowledged the cordial working relationship existing between the state government and security agencies in the state.

He recalled the contributions and sacrifices of security agencies in the state and pledged his administration’s sustained support to security agencies in the state.

He then urged the newly deployed security heads to bring their wealth of experience to bear on the security architecture of the state.

The governor also called on people of the state to support security agencies in the fight against crime and other forms of insecurity with intelligence gathering, stressing that security is everybody’s business and not for security agents alone.
