Following a distress call, men of the Kaduna State Police Command foiled a robbery attack and recovered arms and ammunition, Daily Trust gathered.
Confirming the incident at the weekend, spokesperson of the Kaduna command, DSP Zubairu Abubakar, said his men engaged the robbers in a gun duel.
He said a vehicle with registration number; KHA 168 AA, abandoned by the robbers was currently in police custody.
“At about 9.30pm, a distress call was received by men of the Kaduna command that armed robbers were operating at the residence of Alhaji Umar Mutallab, at No. 9B Ohikere Road Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna.
A patrol team was immediately mobilised to the scene and it engaged the robbers in a gun duel. The robbers then fled the scene, abandoning a locally made pistol with 11 ammunition, four cartridges, a white coloured golf station wagon with registration number; KHA 168 AA and a phone,” he said.
He added that investigation into the matter had commenced.
