The police in Edo State have rescued a driver and six passengers kidnapped by gunmen on the Benin-Auchi road on June 17.
The kidnappers, it was learnt, were dragging their victims into the bush when the police stormed the area and rescued them.
The command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident, said that the DPO of Ehor received information that hoodlums on the Benin-Auchi road by Obandan Junction accosted a Ford bus with registration number, LLFA 568 ST, with intent to rob and kidnap the passengers.

He said police operatives swiftly responded and in the process dislodged the hoodlums and rescued the driver, Muhammed Ibrahim, and the six passengers in his vehicle and assured that effort was on to arrest the fleeing suspects.
