Police exhume remains of pastor killed, buried by kidnappers

The Rivers State Police Command, in the late-night of Friday, exhumed the remains of Friday Olakada, a pastor of a local church, God is God ministry, located at Agbochia in Eleme Local Government Area of the state who was killed by suspected kidnappers.

Briefing newsmen at the scene of the shallow grave at Lorre community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State where the 56-year-old pastor was buried, the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday, said Olakada was kidnapped on May 14, 2021, and was killed by the suspects ten days after his family paid N500,000 ransom to the kidnappers.

CP Eboka explained that following technical intelligence, the police was able to arrest the four suspects who took the police to where they buried their victim.

One of the suspects, Prince Odi, who spoke on behalf of others, explained that somebody contacted his gang that he wanted to buy a sienna vehicle.

Odi said that the pastor was lured on the pretence of hiring him to carry goods for them at Lorre community and on getting to the community, he was kidnapped and a ransom was requested from his family.

The suspect revealed that the Sienna belonging to the pastor was sold out after the victim was kidnapped.

The suspect said that a member of the gang, who he said the pastor recognized, suggested that the victim should be killed as to concealed their act.

The suspect further explained that the deceased pastor was killed after he prayed for him and his gang.

Odi further disclosed that the victim, a father of six, was buried in a shallow grave after he was killed.

The immediate younger brother of the deceased victim, Woko Olakada, commended the police for their efforts in arresting the culprits while adding that justice should be served in the matter.
