Police dismiss 3 officers for robbery in Ogun

The police command in Ogun State has dismissed three officers, Inspector Taiwo Kolawole, Inspector John Ogbe and Corporal Idowu Sunday, for robbery and extortion.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Abiodun Alamutu, disclosed this on Tuesday while parading the officers and 27 seven other suspects of kidnapping, robbery and cultistism.

Alamutu told newsmen that the three police officers and a civilian, Adesiyan Mathew (driver), were arrested following a report by one Kashimao Emmanuel, a student of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, that while he was driving in his Toyota Venza with Reg No: LSD 813 EX, brown in colour, he was accosted by four armed men and one of them was putting on a police camouflage while the three others were on mufti.

He quoted the complainant to have said that the gang demanded his phone, which he declined to give, and that, β€œIn the process, one of them fired a shot into the air which made him comply. They entered his car and took him away towards the Sagamu Expressway. On getting to Ososa, they made a U-turn to Ijebu-Ode, where the sum of N300,1200 was forcefully transferred from his account to an Opay account no: 9097829766.”

The CP said that during investigation, two other complainants who were victims at various times came forward and identified the suspects to have earlier robbed them of their belongings in the same manner.

Alamutu, who said the policemen were tried in orderly room and dismissed, would be charged to court.”
