There was palpable fear on Friday at Jogana, a suburb few kilometres from Kano metropolis, following the discovery of an explosive device at Aujirawa Alkali, a village under Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.
Daily Trust gathered that motorists plying Hadejia road had to make swift turns for safety so as not to be caught up in the tragedy in case the device goes off.

Hadejia road is the entry point for motorists coming into Kano from neighbouring states like Jigawa, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states in the northeast.
The spokesman of the police command in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, has confirmed the report in a statement on Friday.
He said the device has been successfully detonated by the team of the command’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD), adding that investigation had commenced to unravel those involved.
He said the device was discovered by a resident of the community when he went to the bush to ease himself around 5 am on Friday.
Kiyawa said, on sighting the device, the man raised an alarm and the issue was immediately reported to the police who mobilized and cordoned off the area.
He said: “On receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police Kano State command, CP Sama’ila Shuaibu Dikko, raised and instructed a team of Explosive Ordnance Disposal, led by CSP Haruna Ismail, to move to the scene.
“The team immediately swung into action after cordoning the area, an improvised device was discovered.
“The explosive was detonated successfully with the use of technical equipment.
“Investigation has commenced,” he said.
