The police in Imo State have discovered the corpse of a woman, Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu (36), who was declared missing and arrested two suspects.

In a statement, Abattam said, “After a futile search, the family complained to the Commissioner of Police through a petition by one Pastor Mrs Precious Abara. The petition was referred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID). Detectives were detailed to investigate led by Inspector Obele Fredrick.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu, who doubled as the secretary/cashier of the gas plant, took the weekly money of sales to the bank on Tuesdays and managed the day-to-day running of the company because the owner resided abroad.
“These revelations gave the detectives an insight into the puzzle surrounding her disappearance and a thorough search was made in the premises of the entire gas station.
“Unfortunately, nothing incriminating was discovered, hence they moved to the back of the gas station and in the course of searching, a blood stain was observed on the wall of the fence. The traced the blood stain to an area where dried grasses were packed deceptively with two heavy stones placed on them to create an impression that nothing had been done in the area for a long time. ‘’They removed the stones, grasses and dug out the earth, alas a stench oozed out.
“They dug further and discovered it was a shallow grave. Inside was a shovel and a cutlass and the decomposing body of Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu. The corpse was exhumed, the shovel and cutlass recovered. The corpse has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) for autopsy.
“Two suspects have been arrested and are undergoing interrogation for the murder of Miss Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu, while two others are on the run.”
