In the bid to discourage drug abuse in Nigeria, the Lagos State Police Command, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Magaji Kontangora, yesterday destroyed over 4,000 wraps of illicit drugs worth about N10 million at Ewe-Elepe area of Ikorodu.
The illicit drugs destroyed included Indian hemp, loud and cocaine.
Addressing newsmen at the dumpsite, Mr Kontangora said the drugs were impounded by members of the Lagos State Rapid Response team in four months.

He said, “We are here to execute a court order in respect off the destruction of hard drugs recovered by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
He reassured members of the public that the activity of destroying illegal and prohibited drugs and arrests would be a continuous exercise, adding that no level of influence would save whoever that would want to indulge in unscrupulous activities.
Kontangora explained that three suspects were arrested with the drugs and that they had been charged to court.
He said, “We have here with us members of the NDLEA; NAFDAC are also here, and other relative agencies in the state.”
