Police deploy men to Kogi, Bayelsa for November guber elections

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase plans to deploy additional manpower to Kogi and Bayelsa States to ensure crime free gubernatorial election in both states.
A statement Tuesday by police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olabisi Kolawole said the deployment is to provide adequate security for the gubernatorial elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States, in November and December 2015 respectively.
She added thatthe Police leadership also directed the deployment of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) to compliment the Safer Highway Patrol to ensure proper policing of the length and breadth of the nation’s highway.
Kolawole said while briefing members of the Police Management Team in his office, the IGP noted that these measures have become imperative to ensure proper monitoring of activities leading to a hitch-fee election.
“This is in addition to stepping up Police visibilities on our Highways in the Yuletide, and to systematically decapitate hoodlums taking advantage of the season to unleash terror on innocent Nigerian,” the police statement said.
