The police command in Cross River State said it has deployed 1,700 officers and men to ensure a hitch-free Salah celebration.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Gyogon Grimah, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the Eid praying grounds across the state would be heavily policed and that there would be the deployment of officers in strategic locations across the state also.
He noted that the command was taking policing beyond land, as waterways were also being guarded to forestall any problem.
He said, “We have been on top of our game as far as securing the state is concerned. But for this Sallah celebration, we are taking extra precautionary measures to ensure a peaceful celebration.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we have deployed 1,700 of our men across the state. The mission is to ensure the safety of Muslim faithful in our mosques and also recreation areas or fun parks.
“While we appeal to the people to be law-abiding during and after the Sallah celebration, we are also sending a note of warning to anyone or group whose plans are to cause trouble to think otherwise.”
