Police confirm killing of Uniben student

A final-year student of the University of Benin (Uniben), identified simply as Mayor, has been killed by a gunman suspected to be a cultist.

 It was learned that the student of the public administration was shot dead by the gunman in his hostel room at about 9pm on Monday.

 When contacted, the Edo State police spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, saying his body had been recovered and deposited at the university’s teaching hospital morgue.

 The university’s spokesman, Dr Benedicta Ehanire, in a statement, condemned the killing and advised other students to remain calm as the police and other security agencies were working hard to arrest the culprit.
