Police Community Relations Committee to participate in recruitment

The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bala Zama Senchi, says the state chapter of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), will participate in the subsequent recruitment of police in the state.

Senchi said members of the committee would help in the exercise by ensuring that only candidates with good character and academic qualifications get enlisted into the force.

The Commissioner, who made the disclosure yesterday while inaugurating the newly elected officials of the PCRC in Dutse, said police could not be everywhere but with the help of members of the committee vital information about the character of the applicants could reach them in time for appropriate action.

He advised members of the PCRC to find a ways of funding the committee, noting that no organisation could be run at ease without sound finance.

“The committee was established to combat crimes through intelligence gathering on criminal activities within the neighbourhood as well as offering logistics assistance and encouraging qualified members of the community to seek for career in the Nigeria Police.

“The committee is expected to actively participate in all Nigeria Police programmes that have direct bearing on community policing and shall render all assistance in the overall interest of safety and security of lives and properties. It is also to help in liaising with stakeholders for general police direction, guidance and assistance in order to provide quality service for a safe neighbourhood.’’

Alhaji Sabo Aliyu Dangyatin, Alhaji Ahmadu Maidoya and Alhaji Nura Usman, emerged the chairman, vice chairman and secretary of the committee respectively.
