The Police Service Commission (PSC) has taken decisions in respect of Police discipline after deliberating on 37 Pending Disciplinary Matters and 65 appeals and petitions before it.
A statement on Tuesday by the spokesman of the Commission Ikechukwu Ani said the decisions were highlights of the 13th Plenary Meeting of the Commission held in Abuja and presided over by its Chairman, Mike Okiro, a former Inspector General of Police.
Ani said: “The Commission approved the dismissal of two senior Police Officers, retired compulsorily two others and reduced the ranks of another three.”
The commission also approved letters of severe reprimand for 11 senior Officers, letters of reprimand for eight, letters of warning for three and letters of advice for four. The Commission also exonerated four Police Officers,” he added.
Ani also said: “Out of the 65 appeals and petitions, approval was given by the Commission for the reinstatement of 15 Officers, nine were reinstated and retired while 41 others were rejected.”
He stated that: “The Commission’s decisions have since been communicated to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase for implementation.”
