Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Eastern Ports command have clamped down on some suspected criminals who were fond of destroying critical infrastructures that belong to the Nigerian Ports Authority, investors and other critical stakeholders in the South-South zone of the country.
The operatives, who arrested no fewer than five suspected vandals during their operations, vowed that the perpetrators would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to other would-be criminals and bring them to justice.
Weekend Trust reports that the Eastern Ports command covers areas comprising Rivers, Onne, Calabar and Warri ports for smooth port operations and business activities.
Speaking to journalists yesterday while parading the suspected vandals, the commissioner of police manning the command, Jimoh Moshood, said they won’t give breathing space to the criminals because ports business is one of the mainstays of Nigeria’s economy.
