Kano State Police Command has arrested various gangs of notorious kidnappers terrorising Kano and some parts of Jigawa State.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the kidnappers were arrested at different scenes by the team of Operation Puff Adder after receiving intelligence report.

He said “Operation Puff Adder led by SP Shehu Dahiru, through credible information and sustained intelligence-led policing, arrested one Auwalu Halilu alias Halilu Mai Unguwa, 35, of Yade village and one other suspect of Gabasawa LGA, Kano State in connection with cases of kidnapping in Kano and Jigawa states.
“In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to have participated in a series of kidnappings from 2021 to date, which included the kidnapping of one Alhaji Abdullahi Carious, at Minjibir LGA where a police patrol vehicle was set on fire.”
Kiyawa also said another kidnapper was arrested in connection with kidnapping in Bagwai Local Government Area of the state, and that the gang had been threatening to kidnap people if they didn’t pay them money.
“A report was received from a resident of Bagwai LGA, Kano, that he has been receiving threat calls that he should pay the sum of N2m otherwise he will be kidnapped.
“The team swung into action and arrested one Shafiu Bello, 26, of Gangara Village, Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State.”
