The FCT Commissioner of Police, Sunday Babaji, has directed an investigation into write-ups that have been heightening tension in the territory.
A statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, quoted the commissioner as saying such write-ups were targeted at promoting panic and apprehension in the territory.

The commissioner urged the residents to believe only information released from official quarters.
The command also dismissed publications, especially on social media that there was simultaneous heavy gunfire around Dantata Bridge in Lugbe and at the Minister’s Hill in Maitama District at about 8 pm on Tuesday.
Following the receipt of the news, DSP Adeh added that the command’s intelligence and tactical team moved to the scenes but found that it was false.
The statement reads in part: “Having maintained monitoring and surveillance of the areas all night, and with the intelligence at the disposal of the command, it is important to categorically state that the news is on every scale unfounded and should be disregarded.
‘’Members of the public are therefore enjoined to eschew the generation and promulgation of fake/unverified news and go about their lawful business without fear of harassment or molestation of any kind from any quarters.’’
