The police in Benue State on Monday said they have launched a manhunt for the gunmen who kidnapped the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu, and two others.
Our correspondent reports that gunmen on Sunday night abducted Ogbu, his aide, Agbo, and driver on Ado-Otukpo road in the state while on their way to Ogbu’s hometown in Ado LGA in a Toyota Hilux.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Catherine Anene, in a statement on Monday afternoon, said the operatives of the command were on top of the situation.
She said, “The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Wale Abass, who visited the scene for on the spot assessment, has identified a new route linking the forest to the highway and placed adequate security on the road to forestall further occurrence. While interacting with Adankari community members, the CP requested them to volunteer information to the police to assist them in the ongoing operation.

“The CP also visited the victim’s family members and assured them of his commitment to rescue the commissioner and others held hostage.”
