Four kidnapped victims were rescued during a gun duel between the police operatives and suspected kidnappers at Gwagwa-Karmo forest in the FCT.
The FCT police commissioner, Haruna Garba, who disclosed this at a press briefing on Monday, said the incident happened at about 05:30 am on Sunday.
He said one Peter Ede in company of ThankGod Ogunyi who both reside at Piwoyi Lugbe, reported at Karmo Division that, on same date at about 01:50am while worshipping at Idu Gbagyi mountain in Karmo, the criminal elements, numbering about seven and armed with guns and cutlasses, attacked the worshippers and whisked away some of them.
He said upon receiving the information, the police operatives from Karmo division led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Abaya Haruna, swiftly mobilized to the scene and combed the surrounding bushes and hills between Karmo to Gwagwa.

According to him, the police operatives, upon sighting the criminals, engaged them in a serious gun duel, which he said led to the rescue of the victims.
He gave the names of the rescued victims as Igbodi Emeka, Precious Uche and Eric Chukwudi.
He said another middle-aged man, Joshua Eze, was also rescued by the police at Sabon-Lugbe axis of the FCT.
