Police arrests 3 car snatchers, recovers stolen vehicles in Kaduna

Kaduna state police command has arrested three suspected car thieves and recovered stolen vehicles in Zaria.

A statement issued to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Mansir Hassan said operatives of the Zaria City Division who acted on credible information have apprehended a suspect at Agoro, Tudun Wada, Zaria, Kaduna State.

“The operatives of Kaduna Police Command attached to Zaria city Divisional Headquarters had on the 23rd November, 2023 at about 0600 hours acted on credible information arrested the suspect at Agoro Tudun Wada Zaria.

“The suspect, 28 years old Ismail Salisu ‘male’ of Hayin Baki Birnin Gwari Kaduna state was in possession of a stolen red Toyota Corolla with registration number Kano GWL 188 TT,” he said.

In a related development, operatives of Sabon Gari Zaria Division on the same date at about 18:30 hours arrested one Isa Adamu and recovered from his possession a grey coloured Toyota Corolla LE 2003 model. 

The suspect confessed to have stolen the vehicle in Kaduna town and brought it to Zaria to dispose it.

Similarly, based on reliable information, operatives of Sabon Gari Zaria Division arrested one Emeka Nwobodo of Graceland Zaria in possession of a stolen white Toyota Hilux pickup van with registration number Jigawa GML 40 AG. 

“The arrested suspect claimed to have bought the said van from one Ibrahim with an unknown surname. The real owner of the stolen van Ibrahim Aliyu of Aliyu Mohammed road Unguwan Kaduna has since been traced.

“All these three cases are undergoing discreet investigation as the suspects’ accomplices are being trailed for a possible arrest. At the end of which they will all be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement reads in part.
