Police officers in Anambra State have arrested an 80-year-old woman and her accomplice in Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area for allegedly torturing and inflicting injuries on three children.
The suspects, according to a statement by the spokesman for Anambra State Police Command, CSP Haruna Mohameed, confined two boys and a girl inside different rooms and subjected them to physical and emotional torture without feeding. The children were left with several wounds and unconscious.

The police said one of the victims was found with a broken arm and was bleeding while the parents were neither seen nor known.
The suspects, Mrs. Rejoice Raymond, 39, and Mrs Chidi Felicia Nwafor, 80, of Akunwanta Mbamalu Street, Federal Housing Estates 3-3 Area, Anambra State, were arrested by police following an intelligence report on Friday.
Mohameed said the DPO of 3-3 Police Station, CSP Abdu Bawa, and his team have visited the scene.
He said the children were rescued and taken to the hospital for medical attention.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that some fetish substances, blood-stained canes, concoctions, and other incriminating items were recovered inside the rooms and registered as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police CP Monday Bala Kuryas has ordered for a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case after which the suspects would be charged to court.
