Police arrest woman with fake N1,000 notes

Operatives of the Ogun police command have arrested a 30-year-old woman, Bola Agbedimu, for allegedly spending fake N1,000 notes at Kila market in Odeda Local Government Area of the state.   

The suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Odeda divisional headquarters.   

The police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen on Friday in Abeokuta that the DPO, Odeda division, CSP Femi Olabode, detailed his detectives to the scene, where the suspect was arrested.

“On searching her bag, N24,000 fake currency notes was discovered. The suspect confessed that she is a habitual counterfeit naira note dealer. She confessed that her mode of operation is mixing the counterfeit notes with genuine ones and using it to purchase goods,” Oyeyemi said.   

The police spokesman said preliminary investigation revealed that “she has been arrested on many occasions at different markets within Abeokuta.”  

He said the commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
