Police in Katsina have arrested a woman suspected to be commercial sex worker for allegedly selling her 4-month-old baby.
Police Spokesman in the state, SP Isah Gambo, said the suspect, Zainab Adamu, otherwise known as Justina aged 25, allegedly conspired with her friend, Ruth Kenneth, and sold the baby for N300,000.

“ On 26/11/2020 at about 16:30hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Zainab (Justina) Adamu, aged 25yrs an indigene of Adamawa state, but residing at Kofar Kaura Layout, Katsina, who conspired with her friend, one Ruth Kenneth, aged 32yrs of Kofar Kaura Layout, an indigene of Delta state and sold her four months old baby girl to one Chinwindi Omeh, ‘F’, aged 43yrs of Ekuisigo LGA of Anambra state at the cost of N300,000,” Gambo said.
He added that in the course of investigation another suspect, one Chukwudi Elias Nnali, aged 45yrs of the same address, brother to Chinwindi Omeh, was also arrested for aiding and abetting the commission of the offence.
Gambo said the sums of N165,000 and N85,000 were recovered from Zainab Adamu and Ruth Kenneth respectively as proceeds of the sale of the baby while investigation into the matter was ongoing.
