The Police in Benue State have arrested a five-member gang of suspected armed robbers, including a female, for allegedly terrorizing commuters along Vandeikya-Adikpo Road axis of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Benue Command, Moses Joel Yamu, said the suspects were apprehended by men of Operation Zenda Special Squad following a tip off.
He listed the names of the suspects as Mnguember Apuu 22, (female, armourer); Anger Kunav, 20; Iorungwa Hywakaa, 22; Fanen Yev, 25 and Igbadoo Sule, 24, (gang leader).
Yamu said that various exhibits recovered include two locally-fabricated guns, one expended cartridge, three 9mm live ammunition, five cutlasses, one small axe, two polythene bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, three black jackets and assorted charms.
The PPRO added that the other items recovered from them and suspected to have been robbed from innocent citizens included new assorted clothes, eight handsets, one laptop and one motorcycle.
