The police in Katsina State have arrested some alleged key gang members behind the attacks on Zango, Bela and Omodo villages in Kankara Local Government Area where 25 persons were killed and many animals rustled.
The suspects are, Salmanu Isa, 18, of Danbago village and Aliyu Musa, 20, of Chediya village all of Kankara LGA of the state.
Parading the suspects, the acting spokesman of the state police command, ASP Anas Gezawa, said on August 15, based on a tip-off, the command arrested the suspects who have since confessed to the crimes.
He said, during interrogation, Salmanu Isa said they attacked some villages with his syndicate, where they robbed Zango village and went away with eight cows.
“He also confessed that he shot one person dead before going to rob Santa village where they stole six sheep and some food items.
“They equally went to Bela and Zango villages where they killed about 20 people and rustled two cows. They went to Omodo village and killed about five people and also rustled eight cows and six sheep,” Gezawa said.
He added that “the suspects also mentioned one Sirajo and Bishir as their gang members and the case is still under investigation.”
In a related development, the command also succeeded in arresting Tukur Bature, 20, and Sule Musa, 19, with a locally made rifle after they robbed two men of four handsets and the sum of N22,000.
