Police arrest suspected fraudsters for hacking woman’s WhatsApp page

The police in Edo State have arrested two suspected fraudsters for allegedly hacking a woman’s WhatsApp page and using it to defraud members of the public to the tune of N2.5 million.

The suspects, Awosika Joseph, 24 and Olasukami Olajide, 28 based in Akure, Ondo State were alleged to have hacked into the WhatsApp page of one Lovett and used it to defraud members of the public.

The Edo State Command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, said the suspects were arrested by the police while acting on a written petition by one Mrs Igbinosa Omozele Loveth that unknown persons hacked into her Whatsapp page and were using it to defraud people.

He said the suspects used the said whatsApp to defraud unsuspecting members of the public of N2.5 million and other amounts.

He said the police through technical means of investigation and analysis of GSM lines tracked the suspect to Akure, Ondo State where they were arrested.

Chidi said the suspects have confessed to the crime and are helping the police in investigation, adding that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
