Operatives of the Delta State Police Command say they have arrested a 39-year-old suspected cultist, Charles Debi-Abate.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Bright Edafe, told newsmen on Thursday in Asaba that the suspect, alleged to be a serial killer, was a member of Aro Bagger confraternity.
Edafe said the suspect, a native of Oghara but resident in Mosagar, was arrested in a hotel in Oghara over his involvement in serial murder cases in the state.
He said the suspect was arrested in connection with the reported murder of one Destiny Idi (27) of Ovade community at Ovie Road, Ogharafe by some suspected cultists.
Edafe said investigation by the command revealed that the said suspect was part of the syndicate that murdered one Onyekachi Chibuzor (42).
He added that the suspect had been involved in numerous cult-related attacks on perceived opponents in Oghara.
He said though the suspect denied being part of the gang that murdered the said Solomon Idi, he mentioned one Onyeka and Paul (both surnames unknown) as those responsible for the murder.
The command’s image maker added that the suspect led the operatives to the premises of the said Onyeka and Paul but were not found.
He listed items recovered from the suspect’s house to include two English pump action guns, 20 live cartridges, and one GLK Benz SUV.
