The police in Benue State have arrested an alleged informant who specialised in collecting money from criminals to facilitate attacks on rural people in the state.
The police spokeswoman, SP Catherine Anene, made this known on Tuesday in a statement made available to journalists in Makurdi.
“On 22/04/2023 at about 1230hrs one Ephraim Ternenge Iortser of Logo Local Government Area was seen along the Taraba-Benue border wondering in a suspicious manner.
“During investigation, the suspect confessed to having gone to the forest to liaise with criminal herders to pay him so that he could facilitate an attack on a village in Anyiin.

“Further investigation is ongoing to reveal more information about the suspect’s involvement in recent attacks and possible arrest of other suspects involved in carrying out such heinous crimes,” Anene stated.
