Police arrest six over attack, rape of guests in hotel

Detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested six members of a notorious armed robbery gang allegedly behind the attack of some guests at Mambillah Hotel in Owutu area of Ikorodu.

The gang members had allegedly attacked the hotel on May 11, 2022, during which they robbed and raped some young women. 

It was learnt that the suspects were arrested after weeks of continuous trailing.

Those arrested include Lekan Adeoye (19), Ojo Akeredolu (29), Quadri Balogun (23), Ahmed Okez (24), John Toluwalashe (23) and Azeez Akinpelu (20).

It was gathered that the seventh member of the gang died during a shoot out with policemen.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest, said all six suspects were behind the incident.

Benjamin said the arrest of the suspects followed “painstaking, diligent and discreet investigation ordered and closely monitored by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi.”

According to him, the suspects were traced to their hideout at Oju-irin Abattoir, Lagos State, where they were eventually arrested.
