Police arrest pupils for setting school on fire in Ogun

The police in Ogun State have arrested two pupils, Wahis Musa (six) and Malik Iliasu (nine), of Community Primary School, Isheri Olofin in Ifo LGA for allegedly setting the school on fire.

The police spokesman in the state, Omolola Odutola, said, “Two pupils of Community Primary School, Isheri Olofin, Wahis Musa and Malik Iliasu, have been apprehended for setting fire to their school on October 29, 2023.”

She explained that a chief in the community reported the incident to the police that Musa and Iliasu gained access to one of the classrooms, gathered books left behind by teachers and pupils and set them on fire.

Odutola said investigation was ongoing as they were making inquiries on how to contact the parents “as this is a very serious crime for these children to get themselves involved with.”
