Police arrest POS operator, 9 others over kidnapping, robbery in Delta

A Point of Sale (POS) operator who allegedly provides her account details to kidnappers for victims to pay ransom into has been arrested by the police in Delta State.

City & Crime reports that the suspect was arrested along with nine others over alleged kidnapping and armed robbery.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday, alleged that the POS operator provided her account for hoodlums to transfer money from victims’ accounts before releasing the money to them.

He said the POS operator who claimed ignorance of the antecedents of the suspects cooperated and availed the police with credible information that led to the arrest of some other suspects.

He said the arrest of the suspects was sequel to a report lodged at the Ovwian Aladja Division in Udu LGA area by a kidnapped victim.

He gave the names of some of the suspects as Adim Lucky Onweiyali (33), Akporido Stanley (56), Ogheneovo Abdnego (17), Chidi Okpanachi (31), Chibuike Ochula (30) and Izuchi Uzochi (20), noting that items recovered from them included three local guns, live cartridges and four motorcycles.
