Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested one Godwin Appi over the alleged murder of a fresh graduate of the University of Benin (Uniben), Glory Adekolure Idowu, in Ibuzor, near Asaba, Delta State.
The Edo Commissioner of Police (CP), Funsho Adegboye, said that during investigation following an ultimatum given by the Edo State Government and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), it was discovered that the suspect killed other girls in Benin and Delta states.
He said the late Glory’s phone was taken after she was killed and that the police were able to get the receipt of the phone with the support of her brother through which operatives of the anti- kidnapping and cybercrime unit trailed the suspect to Delta.
The suspect, in an interview with journalists, said, “I saw the deceased (sic) walking on the street and was playing music on her phone. I followed and held her neck and dragged her into a pig farm, held her down and collected her bag. As I was rushing out, she got up and held my shirt and I hit her head on the face and she died and I ran away.”

Recall that the victim, on June 13, 2024, in Iyowa community in Benin City, was on her way home after processing her clearance from Uniben after when was abducted, tortured, raped, killed and dumped close to her mother’s house.
