Police arrest kidnappers who killed victim after collecting N200,000

The police have arrested five suspected kidnappers over the killing of their victim, Smart Nwashiri (29), after they collected N200,000 from him in Edo State.

The suspects, Goodluck Ojieh, Lucky Enagbonmien, Victory Okoro, Sunday Ernest and Daniel Udi, allegedly committed the crime in Ologbo community near Benin City.

The state’s Police Commissioner, Funsho Adegboye, said the suspects were tracked and arrested in Delta State.

He said the victim was lured on June 17, by the gang’s leader to a location in the Ologbo area where the other gang members were waiting on the pretext that they wanted to sell a vehicle part, aka Indomie, to him. 

In an interview with journalists, the gang leader said they decided to kill the victim in order to avoid being caught because the man knew them.
