Police arrest kidnappers, rescue victim in Jigawa

The Jigawa State police command, with support from vigilantes, has raided suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Nisan Marke herdsmen’s settlement in Ringim LGA where it arrested two suspected kidnappers.

According to the command’s public relations officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu, a joint team from Ringim Area Command, in conjunction with the vigilante group, led by the Ringim Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Shehu Hamdullahi, acting on credible intelligence raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout.

He said one Muhammad Sama’ila, 45, of Madari village, Warawa LGA, Kano State was seen with machete cuts all over his body.

“On receipt of the information, a team of policemen swung into action, visited the scene of crime and conveyed the victim to a hospital.

“While at the hospital, after he regained his consciousness, the victim revealed that he was kidnapped on August 22, 2022, at about 0130hrs from Madari village in Warawa LGA of Kano State and taken to Nisan Marke Herdsmen.”

He added that when he attempted to escape from the abductors, he was attacked by one of them who inflicted injuries on him.

On the same date at about 0850hrs, a team of policemen stormed the area, where one of the kidnappers named Abdurrazaq Musa, 40, of Gurgunna village, Babura LGA, Jigawa State was arrested and the phone which belonged to the victim and was used for ransom negotiation was found in his possession.

He said furthermore, one Hassana Jimau, 30, of Nisan Marke village was also arrested. 

During interrogation, both suspects confessed to have abducted the victim with eight other gang members. He said effort to trace their accomplices is on top gear.

Meanwhile, the suspects have been handed over to the anti-kidnapping section of the Kano State police command.
