Police arrest herbalist, 2 others over grave vandalization in Edo

Operatives of the Edo state police command have arrested a herbalist and two others who are specialised in grave vandalization in Edo state

It was gathered that the suspects were arrested on May 6 by the police.

The suspects, Josephine Adun, 40, Oyegoke Olushola (herbalist) 42, and Charity Goodluck 29.

The command’s spokesperson, Bello Kontongs said the suspects specialized in vandalizing vaults and graveyards to desecrate corpses and decimate parts for commercial purposes.

He said Josephine Adun is the ring leader of the specialized criminal gang, while Oyegoke Olushola is the ‘gang herbalist’. He added that Charity Goodluck who resides at Forestry Road, Ologbo, bought the human skull from the gang for N40,000.

While assuring the public of the command’s commitment to the fight against all forms of crimes, the PPRO said the suspects would be charged to Court.

He called on local governments and other agencies of government empowered to safeguard the cemetery to place more efforts at protecting the tombs as activities of the criminals need to be checked before they constitute more nuisance in the society.
