The police in Edo State have arrested a fake army captain, identified as Ayo Jeremiah Obazuwa (50), and three others, Sule Kelson Jubril (34), Silas Uwana (33) and Ogbonmwan Jude (37), for attempting to kidnap one Joseph Bulus in Benin City.

It was gathered that the suspects abducted the victim from his house on the guise of offering him employment and were taking him somewhere when they were intercepted by the police.

The command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwanbuzor, said they were arrested after the police stopped a suspicious Toyota Corolla conveying five occupants.

He said, “On a closer look at the vehicle, one of the suspects, Ayo Jeremiah Obazuwa, in complete military regalia, claimed to be an army captain. Another occupant, Joseph Bulus, was in handcuffs, which led to all the occupants being brought to the CID for further investigation.”

He said during investigation it was discovered that Ayo Jeremiah Obazuwa was not a military personnel.

He explained that, “The victim, Joseph Bulus, told the police that he was in his house when the ‘captain’ came in the company of the three others, Sule Kelson Jubril, Silas Uwana and Ogbonmwan Jude under the guise of giving him a job, but that they handcuffed him, dragged him into the boot of their car and whisked him away before he was later removed from the boot and made to sit in the car.”
