Ekiti State Police Command has paraded an armed robbery suspect, Alaba Akinlade, for burglary and stealing.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Sunday Abutu, who represented the Commissioner of Police, Mr Tunde Mobayo, said during investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and said he was a member of a gang of armed robbers that comprised two others who are now at large.

Abutu said investigation revealed that the arrested suspect is an ex-convict who was just released from the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ado-Ekiti.

The PPRO noted that on November 22, 2021, one Babafemi Jide, of Odo-Oro in Ado-Ekiti reported that unknown persons broke into his house and stole one Plasma television set, one photocopier/printing machine, one video recording camera, one stabilizer, one Tiger generator and a sack of rice.

Abutu pointed out that all the stolen items were recovered from him while effort intensified by the RRS operatives led them to their hideout along Afao road in Ado-Ekiti, where three pump action guns, one Beretta pistol and 41 cartridges were recovered.

Abutu said effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Mobayo added that the suspect would be charged to court.

He urged everyone to be law-abiding and report criminal activities to the police.
