The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer with 250 parcels of Indian Hemp.
The suspect, Agbo Victor, 33, was arrested by a team of Operation Puff Adder of the Command, led by CSP Hassan Nasir Jega, while on surveillance patrol along Kwanar Dangora, Kiru LGA, Kaduna-Kano Border.
The suspect was driving a dark green Honda vehicle.
Speaking while parading the suspect, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the vehicle contained 250 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, valued at N1, 750, 000 packed inside the vehicle’s trunk.
“On investigation, the suspect confessed that the items packed in the boot were 250 parcels of Indian Hemp, and that he transported the Indian Hemp from his state of origin – Edo State, en route to Kano State with the intent to deliver it to one Alhaji before he was arrested at the Kaduna-Kano Border.
“Having learned about his suspected arrest, the said Alhaji escaped to an unknown destination,” Kiyawa has said.
He added that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Sama ‘ila Dikko, had directed that the case be transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Narcotics Section for discreet investigation while the suspect will be prosecuted upon completion of the investigation.
