Police arrest drug baron, recover narcotics, others in Ekiti

Ekiti State Police Command has arrested Ojo Fadeyi Femi, suspected to be an armed robber at Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The police said items recovered from the hoodlum include 43 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, 40 wraps of white powder suspected to be cocaine, two sharp cutlasses and N52,750.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Sunday Abutu, in a statement yesterday in Ado-Ekiti said on August 20, 2021, at about 11:30 pm, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), received a credible tip-off and they went to arrest the suspect.

Abutu said the RRS mobilised to the scene which is a black spot in Ado-Ekiti and arrested the suspect, but the other members of the gang, “On sighting the operatives, took to their heels but eventually, Ojo Fadeyi Femi was arrested.”

Abutu added that “the arrested suspect claimed the ownership of the exhibits recovered and also confessed to being a drug baron, while efforts have been made to arrest the suspects at large.”
