Police arrest dismissed corporal over extortion, impersonation

Operatives of the Edo state command have arrested a dismissed police corporal, Omokaro Edison, for allegedly extorting money from the public.
Speaking with journalists, the Edo state police command spokesperson, Kotongs Bello, said the suspect was arrested on April 22.
According to him, the suspect was parading himself as an officer of the Nigeria Police Force even when he was dismissed from the force. It was further gathered that he was arrested while extorting members of the public of their hard-earned money, adding that the suspect has since confessed to the crime.
He said the suspect would soon be charged in court for impersonation.
According to the police spokesman, the state  Commissioner of Police Abutu Yaro, assured that the command will continue to sectorise its tactical unit for a more robust patrol and intelligence-based policing.
