Police arrest child trafficker in Asaba

Delta State Police Command said it has arrested “Mama Cash” a serial child trafficker in Asaba, the state capital. The police also denied allegations of bribery in series of child trafficking cases in Okpanam, a suburb of Asaba, that involve the arrested woman.
Residents of the area have accused police of levity following kidnap of a 7-year old, who was taken from his home in Umuomake in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Another 9-year old boy was reported missing at Inyanga market, Okpanam.
Sources told Daily Trust that ‘Madam Cash’ was arrested some years back for child trafficking and was allegedly let off the hook by police after paying N2.5 million bribe.
Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state police, Superintendent of Police (SP) Celestina Kalu denied the bribery allegation saying “the prime culprit is in our custody and it is not true that she gave the police money to clear herself.”
