Police Command in Akwa Ibom State said it has arrested 60 suspects over the killings of two persons in a rival cult clash in Inen, Oruk Anam local government area.
In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nudam Fredrick, on Monday, which was made available to newsmen in Uyo, he said the arrests were made following the cult clash between members of the Debam and Iceland cult confraternities.

He explained that the clash led to the death of two persons, one Ofonime Uduak ‘m’ and Iniobong Kufre Silas ‘m’, suspected to be members of cult groups, adding that the arrested suspects would be charged to court.
He reassured the people that the onslaught against cultists and cultism in the state would be sustained, praising them for volunteering useful information to the police.
“It would be recalled that on Sunday, 26th April, 2020 at about 10pm the Command received a disturbing report of a rival cult clash between members of the Debam and Iceland cult confraternities in Inen Clan.
“It culminated to the death of one Ofonime Uduak ‘m’ and Iniobong Kufre Silas ‘m’.
“The deceased were suspected to be members of Iceland and Debam confraternities.
“Consequently, the Police Command swung into action and arrested sixty (60) suspects.
“Fifteen (15) suspects were charged to court for murder, while twelve (12) others were charged with murder and cultism.
“In a related development, the Command on Saturday, 6th June, 2020 arrested four (4) other notorious cultists terrorizing Inen Clan in Oruk Anam Local Government Area,” he stated.
