Police arrest 6 over cultism, possession of arms in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested six suspects for allegedly involving in cultism and unlawful possession of firearms.

The suspects are Godwin Idemudia (27), Tunde Bolaji (36), Stanley Oleode (43), Innocent Odibhade (36), Ali Bello (42) and Akhere Ojie (33).

Spokesperson of the command, Chidi Nwabuzor, said while acting on credible information on secret cult activities in Benin metropolis, they arrested one Godwin Idemudia who confessed to being a member of the Eiye secret cult.

 He said two locally made cut-to-size double-barrel guns which Idemudia sold to Oleode through the assistance of one Bolaji were recovered.

Chidi further said that while expanding investigation, the police arrested five other suspects and recovered two locally made cut-to-size guns from them.

He added that the suspects made statements and confessed to being members of the Eiye secret cult.
