Police arrest 5 over killing 4 in Osun

Officers of the Osun State Police Command have arrested five armed suspects after killing four persons at Alape village in Modakeke community.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Wale Olokode, said those arrested were Akingbala Olakunle, Owoniyi Segun, Daramola Muideen, Shina Adeyemi and Awotinde Elijah.

He also gave the names of the victims as Oladele Ismaila, Oladele Afeez, Taye Animashaun and Shina.

One double barrel gun, five live cartridges, one knife, a cutlass and an axe were recovered from the suspects.

“This unwarranted and barbaric murder provoked the Modakeke indigenes and they decided to take revenge on the indigenes of Ife,” he said.

Olokode said some other suspects were arrested by the police in connection with the crime and that they are undergoing investigation.

He said adequate security measures have been put in place by the police to ensure that such acts of lawlessness did not reoccur.

The CP said the situation has been put under control and assured that the suspects would be charged to court after investigation.
