However, Shehu in a statement announced the arrest of two bandits for kidnapping and cattle rustling perpetrated in Zamfara, Katsina, and Niger states.
The suspects are Umaru Buba ‘M’ 21, and Babuga Manu ‘M’ 20, who are residents of Baburasa Village in Kainji LGA of Niger State.
Police said the suspects had confessed to belonging to the gang of a banditry kingpin, Bello Turji, and had taken part in the kidnapping of an unspecified number of victims in which millions of naira were collected as ransom.
He said the police also arrested one Musbahu Aminu, 30, who has confessed to being a member of bandit kingpin, Halilu Kachalla, and had participated in several kidnappings and cattle rustling where millions of naira were paid by victims’ relations as ransom.

He added that one Isah Ayuba was also arrested for supplying information to bandits while another suspect, Abu Umaru, was arrested on a motorcycle coming out of the forest.
Shehu said in the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to belonging to a gang of bandits operating in Mada, Wonaka, Yandoto and Tsafe under their gang commander, Malam Tukur.
