The Lagos State Police Command yesterday said it has arrested 47 murder suspects out of a total of 1,320 arrests made for various crimes in the state’s metropolis between October and November 2021.

It said the hoodlums were arrested at different locations across the state and that many weapons and illicit drugs were also recovered from the different criminal dens raided.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, made this disclosure at a press conference held yesterday at the command’s headquarters, Ikeja.

Odumosu while reading out the command’s score card in the last two months reiterated its determination and commitment to harnessing all available means to reduce crimes and social vices in the state as required of the police.

He said from the month of October to November 2021, the command arrested 66 suspected armed robbers, 72 suspected cultists and 47 murder suspects.

He said in addition, the command recovered 110 arms, 125 ammunition (of various calibres) and eight stolen vehicles.

“Interestingly, the command was able to foil 46 cases of armed robbery in the state. The command, within the period under review, was able to charge 151 suspects to court among whom were 15 cultists/armed robbers,” he added.

On the perennial gridlock in the city, Odumosu attributed it to the numerous road rehabilitations that are simultaneously going on in almost all parts of the city.

“The effect of this on robbery in traffic is being adequately taken care of by the command. The tactical teams and other intelligence-based units of the command have put their resources together to reduce these menaces to their barest minimum in Lagos State, since no society is absolutely free of crimes.

Equally, due to the general appraisal of security of the state and robust intelligence gathering, the command has embarked on constant raid of flash points, where miscreants who terrorise innocent people of Lagos State, especially attacking them in traffic, hibernate across the state,” he said.
