The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police says it has apprehended three suspected cultists who had been causing sleepless nights to the residents of Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, revealed this in an interview with Daily Trust in Lafia, the state capital on Sunday.

ASP Nansel stated that the suspected cultists, led by one Timothy Ishaya, a 21-year-old man, had been on the wanted list of the police for constantly terrorising and disturbing the peace of the residents of the area.

According to him, the command had intensified the search for cultists who have been on the wanted list of the command’s Anti-Cultism unit for series of criminal activities in Akwanga LGA.

He added that police operatives attached to the Akwanga division raided a notorious criminal hideout called Kotto where the three suspected cultists were arrested.

He said: “One axe, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, two necklaces with cultic pendants and a calabash filled with criminal charms were recovered from them as exhibits.”
