Police arrest 3 kidnappers in Gombe

The police in Gombe State, yesterday, said they have arrested three suspects for criminal conspiracy and attempt to kidnap a businessman.

Parading them before newsmen, police spokesman in the state, ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, said the suspects: Danlami Abdullahi (30), Maifata Galadima (18) and Fari Babangida (22), all of Madugu village in Akko LGA, conspired and threatened to kidnap one Malam Babayo Umaru.

He said the command received a letter of complaint dated April 8, from one Malam Babayo Umaru, a resident of Sisi-Bako village near Kalshingi, who reported that on March 15, at about 0800hours, some persons called him with a hidden GSM number and threatened to kidnap him.

ASP Abubakar said operatives from the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) were detailed to investigate the case and subsequently tracked and arrested the three suspects.

According to him, all the suspects confessed to the crime and would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
