The police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Tuesday told newsmen in Abeokuta that the DPO Mowe division, CSP Saminu Akintunde, mobilised his men and stormed the scene.
He said when operatives arrived at the scene, the hoodlums fled, but with the assistance of members of the community, three among them were arrested while others escaped.
Oyeyemi said one locally made short gun loaded with two live cartridges, two jack knives and criminal charms were recovered from the suspects.
The police spokesman quoted the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, to have ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
He also directed a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang with the view to bringing them to justice.
