The Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it has arrested 22 suspects for the murder of Inspector Usang Egbe and cultism.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon, said in a press release on Saturday in Uyo that the arrest was made between January 31 and February 2, adding that the command would not relent in its fight against criminals.
Inspector Usang was allegedly beheaded by over 10 hoodlums on Wednesday night in his house in Uyo.
Macdon revealed that other murder suspects like Barracks – an alleged serial murderer from Mbiaso village in Oruk Anam LGA, who masterminded the Inen clan cult war, have also been arrested.

“On 30/01/24, at about 2330hrs, relying on credible intelligence, the anti-Cultism Unit of the command arrested one Emem Ime Friday, alias Barracks, a serial murderer from Mbiaso village in Oruk Anam LGA who masterminded the Inen Clan Cult War.
“In 2022, he orchestrated the gruesome murder of Inen Clan Youth President, one Hezekiah Adaidem, beheaded him and severed his manhood and then fled to Rivers State, while in 2020, he allegedly murdered Ufot Unwana on August 8th, Udeme Unwucha and Okon Ubok Udom on 16th September. Other victims on November, 24 were Ntiedo Sambo, Eferemfon James and Gilbert Akpan.”
